Immigration Reform Bill moves to Senate Floor for Debate

On May 21, 2013, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to the Senate floor S. 744, the "Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013," a comprehensive immigration reform proposal introduced by a "Gang of Eight" senators in April, 2013.

This comprehensive immigration reform bill offers a pathway to legalization for approximately 11 million undocumented persons currently living in the United States. On June 4, 2013, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) said that he intends to bring the immigration bill to the Senate floor to start debate next week.
